Get Active in Your Precinct

Precincts are the basic unit of organization in the Democratic Party. Wake County has 188 precincts. One of the best ways to get involved in local politics is to contact your precinct chairperson. If your precinct doesn't have a chair, consider becoming one yourself. To get started, check out www.wakedems.org. P.R. Latta Volunteer of the Year Award

The Wake County Young Democrats (WCYD) presents the P.R. Latta Volunteer of the Year Award annually to a member of the Democratic Party residing in Wake County who has shown an outstanding and lifelong commitment to grassroots activism.  The Young Democrats host a banquet, typically in August, at which this award is presented.

The Executive officers and the Board of the WCYD select the recipient of the award from nominations received from the other auxiliary clubs in the county, the Executive Director of the County Party, the County Chair, and the County Executive Officers.
